Workshop at ISDi Havanna

In November 2010 I taught a type workshop at the Instituto Superior de Diseño in Havanna.
The workshop was part of a two weeks field trip with Anna Berkenbusch, Jenny Baese and students from the University of Art and Design Halle.
I was working with ten students from the department of visual communication – Alfredo, Camilla, Carlos, Helman, Javier, Jorge, Yasser, Yesmany and Yonney – and Henry Kocina as interpreter (who was a wonderful help, translating from Spanish to German and vice versa).

The type workshop was about the creative exploration of pictorial letterforms, interpreting Havanna’s very specific cultural identity (ranging from idiosyncracies to stereotypes).
Here are the final results and some impressions from the workshop as well as some typographic souvenirs from Cuba.
